Claude has all four legs, but one toe is missing on his right front leg. Claude used to share his exhibit space with a female alligator named Bonnie. They had a fight once, and Claude’s toe was injured. Bonnie was eventually sent back to the alligator preserve in St. Augustine, Florida that she and Claude had come from.

William says he heard that a snapping turtle bit off one of Claude’s legs!
