Celebrate World Oceans Day at the Academy’s Naturalist Center this Friday, June 8, 11:00 am-4:00 pm! Color a Dr. Seuss World Oceans Day crown and proudly wear it to show your support in keeping our oceans clean. Watch a nature documentary about marine animals. Play Ocean Bingo, put together underwater-animal jigsaw puzzles, and more.

This Sunday’s Science Story Adventures program continues the celebration with a fish theme. The program starts at 2:30 pm in the classroom next door to the Naturalist Center and is for children ages 4 to 8 and their caregivers.

Middle school students are invited to participate in Our Oceans Essay and Art Contest. Click here for more information.

Can you guess what it is?

Here are some hints:

  • This animal is found in tropical oceans around the world.
  • It feeds mainly on sea urchins, molluscs and hermit crabs.

Leave us a comment with your answer! Then come see us in the Classroom on Sunday, June 10th at 2:30 pm for Science Story Adventures to see if you’re right and to learn more about this animal. Science Story Adventures is our program for children ages 4 – 8 and their caregivers. In the program, we explore the natural world through stories, specimens, games and crafts.
