This sounds pretty cool. I love the idea of digitizing collections, either so a wider audience can have access to it or for the sake of preserving items for posterity.

I understand that many museums have numerous items and collections that are in storage and not accessible to the general public at all times. Are there plans to bring these items online in the future? For example, I have heard of one museum having literally thousands of untranslated ancient tablets just sitting in storage collecting dust because they don't have the staff to study them.

If these were placed in digital collections online, I imagine scholars all around the world could have greater access to them and could work towards bringing the knowledge they contain to a wider audience.

Is this an area CC is thinking about?
