Living Coral Reef
This 6,000 gallon aquarium consists of over 50 species of living coral, including the delicate stony corals, colorful octocorals and gorgonians. The display is also home to numerous beautiful reef fishes which live together in this model ecosystem.
Coral reefs are threatened worldwide by human activities: destructive fishing practices, coastal development, and pollution. Most of the corals in our display were grown in captivity from fragments as part of a cooperative program for captive propagation.
