SAN FRANCISCO (September 9, 2004) - Ghosts, knights, princesses, ghouls, and ANTS are invited to the Academy's 13th Annual Halloween Party, where kids can show off their costumes and enjoy some ghoulishly good tricks and treats. Families are invited to see Steinhart Aquarium's new downtown tanks, peer into a two-story coral reef, come face-to-face with slithering snakes, view six colonies of live ants, and meet Academy scientists with their spookiest specimen collections. Face painting, mask making, and performances by Benny & Bebe's Magic Circus and Mad Scientists of the Bay Area will all add to the Halloween fun. Partygoers can get batty from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, October 22 at the Academy's downtown museum, which is located at 875 Howard Street. Tickets cost $350 per family, which includes two adults and up to three children. Alternately, individual tickets can be purchased for $150 per adult and $50 per child. Benefactor levels are available at $2,500, $1,000, and $500. Reservations are required by Wednesday, October 13. Space is limited; please reserve early by calling (415) 379-8000.
The California Academy of Sciences, including Steinhart Aquarium and the Natural History Museum, is open to the public at 875 Howard Street, Admission to the Academy at 875 Howard Street is: $7 for adults, $4.50 for youth ages 12 to 17, Seniors ages 65+ and students with valid ID, $2 for children ages four to 11 and children ages three and younger are admitted free of charge. The California Academy of Sciences, the fourth largest natural history museum in the United States, is home to Steinhart Aquarium, Morrison Planetarium and the Natural History Museum. The Academy is beginning an extensive rebuilding project in Golden Gate Park. Pritzker prize-winning architect Renzo Piano is designing the new Academy, which is expected to open in 2008. #### |
