The California Academy of Sciences Appoints
SAN FRANCISCO (November 4, 2004) - California Academy of Sciences Executive Director Patrick Kociolek, Ph. D., has announced the appointment of Jeremy G. Fair as Chief Operating Officer of the Academy. The Chief Operating Officer role is a new position that encompasses all of the Academy's business operations, including Accounting, Business and Finance, Technology, Marketing and Communications, Human Resources, Legal, Facilities, and the Academy Store. "I am very truly honored and excited to be joining the Academy at such an important time in its distinguished history. The Chief Operating Officer's role is to support the Academy's current mission and the growth of the Academy in the future, as the spectacular new facility in Golden Gate Park is built."
Fair comes to this newly created position from U.S. Bank, where he served as the President of the bank's Northern California region. Fair lead U.S. Bank's aggressive expansion in the Northern California market over the past two years. Prior to his employment at U.S. Bank, Fair had an extensive and broad career at Bank of America in a variety of management assignments in London, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He rose to Group Executive Vice President for the bank's U.S. and Canada wholesale banking activities and helped with the bank's integration of corporate and investment banking.
Active in the community and in not-for-profit organizations over the course of his career, Fair has served as a trustee of the Music Center in Los Angeles, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the California Institute for the Arts. Currently, he serves as a trustee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and he is on the board of Junior Achievement of the Bay Area. He has a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Finance. Fair resides in Marin with his wife Jean, an architect, and his two daughters.
