SAN FRANCISCO (August 10, 2009) – Creep, crawl, slither and slink from the rainforest canopy to the coral reef during the California Academy of Sciences’ 18th annual family costume party, Green Halloween. There’s no better place for kids and their families to show off their costumes and enjoy some monstrously good tricks and treats on Friday, October 23, 2009.
Partygoers will enjoy spooktacular activities, crafts, and surprises galore throughout the museum. Delicious food and creative entertainment will delight kids of all ages.
The Academy’s exhibits, which will remain open throughout the evening, offer the chance to linger under the jaws of a towering Tyrannosaurus rex, encounter otherworldly fish of the deep sea, and commune with bats and other nocturnal critters. Creepy creatures like tarantulas, snakes and eels will greet families in Steinhart Aquarium, and face-to-face encounters with Academy scientists and their fascinating collections are sure to captivate the entire family.
The spooky fun runs from 6:30-8:30 pm on Friday, October 23, with a pre-party for Benefactor ticketholders at 5:00 pm. Tickets cost $375 per family, which includes two adults and two children. Individual tickets can be purchased for $125 per adult, and $75 per child. Benefactor ticket packages are available at $2,000, $1,000, and $500. Reservations are required by October 19. Space is limited; please reserve early online at www.calacademy.org/halloween, or by calling (415) 379-5404. Proceeds support the Academy’s education and research programs.
