SUPERNATURAL HALLOWEEN PARTY AT THE CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

Family-friendly festivities on October 26 will include trick-or-treating around the Academy,
live animal demonstrations, musical performances, and more from 5:00 to 9:00 pm

SAN FRANCISCO (August 22, 2013) – The California Academy of Sciences invites families to grab their costumes and have a ghostly good time while trick-or-treating through the Academy at night, among spooktacular animals and creepy-crawly specimens at SuperNatural Halloween 2013, co-chaired by Jane Gruber and Summer Tompkins Walker.

Guests can gaze above at larger-than-life stiltwalkers, be amazed by roaming magicians, and transform into their favorite Academy animals with the help of fanciful face painters. Plus, they will get the chance to experience the Academy after dark with a giant pumpkin carving demonstration, magic shows, special coral reef dive program, and family-friendly activities for all ages brought together under one living roof.

Children who arrive in costume will receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag to haul their candy loot as they explore hands-on Halloween crafts and live animal demonstrations throughout the museum. Guests are invited to step into a photoBOOth to capture all of the fun and catch a special live presentation of “A Haunted Tour of the Night Sky” in the planetarium, led by an Academy presenter. Plus, enjoy live music by the kid rockers of Rock Project SF and complimentary beverages for adults and children.

General admission tickets (for 6:30 pm entry) are $50 for adults, $35 for children; children age 1 and younger are free. Family VIP benefactor tickets are also available (from $85-$1,000) and include special VIP lounge, early family entry, exclusive dinner catering, and more. For details and to purchase tickets, visit www.calacademy.org/halloween or call (415) 379-5411. Proceeds from this special event help to support the Academy’s educational programs, including 150,000 field trips for students annually.
