Drone Tabling

6:00-10:00 pm, Get up to speed on the ever-emerging field of drone technology and learn how scientists use these high-flying cams to explore ecosystems and communities around the world while chatting with teams from Digital Democracy, Pix4D, 3DR, Global Forest Watch, Drone Deploy, and Open ROV. Check out how drones are helping to inform critical conservation decisions with Conservation MetricsLiquid Robotics, and aerial imagery pros from DJI.

Google Demos
(East Pavilion)

6:00-10:00 pm, Hear from the team behind Google Expeditions and experience some of the world’s most fascinating places while checking out a Google Cardboard virtual reality (VR) demo. Plus, embark on a visual tour around the globe with Google Earth imagery and hear from the engineers who put mapping the planet at our fingertips.

A Talk with Biologist Rob Dunn
(Piazza)

7:30-8:00 pm, "Why The Obscure Biology of Jungle Species is Central to the Future of Medical and Agricultural Innovation and Technology"—a talk with Biologist Rob Dunn. Book signing to follow.

Climbing Demos & Image Digitizing
(Project Lab)

6:00-10:00 pm, Catch a live climbing demo from Academy researcher and sloth scientist Dr. Bryson Voirin and hear about how he gains access to study these adorably slow-moving creatures and their unique behaviors.

Plus, see the Academy’s GIGAmacro imaging technology in action and discover what goes into digitizing over 46 million scientific specimens—and counting!

A variety of food options are available at NightLife from 6-9:30 pm, including The Academy Cafe, The Terrace located in the West Garden, and The Academy Cafe Food Cart located in the front lobby.
