UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH INTERNSHIP

The California Academy of Sciences will offer the Robert T. Wallace Undergraduate Research Internship for Summer 2005.  This 8 week internship matches a student with an Academy scientist to work on a specific research project. The Wallace Intern will have the opportunity to learn about a specific group of organisms, be involved in original scientific research and appreciate the role of a natural history museum in research and education. The research project may include laboratory and field expedition components, and the participant will take part in all activities offered by the Summer Systematics Institute.

Eligibility:  Junior and Senior level undergraduates (graduating seniors are not eligible) who are U.S. citizens with a B average or better and have demonstrated participation in a wide range of campus activities.

Duration: Full-time (40 hours/week) for 8 weeks, beginning June 20 through August 12, 2005.

Stipend: $ 3,500 for the internship period. In addition, some travel costs (up to $450) to San Francisco will be reimbursed and a $1,500 housing allowance is given (some housing may be available). Funding may be subject to Federal and/or State income taxes.
