For visitors looking for an exhibit break, the Academy offers a variety of dining and shopping options.
Both of the dining options, the Academy Café and the Moss Room, are brought to you by renowned chefs-in-residence, Charles Phan (Slanted Door) and Loretta Keller (COCO500).
Academy Café
 | The Academy Café offers a multicultural menu designed to appeal to appetites of all ages. Signature highlights include spring rolls, paninis, tacos and fresh pastries. Satellite food stations in the Piazza and in the East Garden also sell a variety of sandwiches, hot dogs, steamed buns and gumbo. Hours On Thursdays we reopen from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm for NightLife.

Moss Room
 | For fine dining, the Moss Room features a California/Mediterranean menu, and includes organic, seasonal and local ingredients. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Hours Lunch and dinner reservations can be through our reservation line at (415) 876-6121, online at www.themossroom.com, or at www.opentable.com. For an exclusive experience at the Academy after it’s closed, away from the daytime crowds, including a tour and dinner, take the Academy’s new After-Hours Wine and Dine Tour. Academy members and their guests now receive 15% off on all food and beverages during dinner in The Moss Room. Please mention you are an Academy member when making a reservation and present your membership card to your server. Currently, parking validation is available for dinner Wednesday through Sunday, up to $10.

Academy Store
 | With over 2000 items for sale, visitors can shop a wide selection of Earth-friendly gifts and merchandise. Items include Academy clothing, fiction and non-fiction books, children's toys and DVDs. The Academy Store is located on the main level near the Academy entrance. There's also a satellite location, called the Swamp Store, on the aquarium's mezzanine level. Both locations are open during normal visiting hours. |
Lab Jr.
 | Lab Jr. specializes in engaging children in science, exploration and learning. Located on the main level adjacent to the planetarium, the store features both high-tech and hands-on merchandise. It also features plush toys of the Academy's most famous residents, including Claude the albino alligator and the Academy penguins. Lab Jr. is open during normal visiting hours. |
