I heard that Pierre’s genes are well represented so he is not recommend to have additional children. However, I was thinking of doing a cross country trip, which would include visiting other places that have penguins. I was hoping to visit place that had Pierre's decendants. Do you have his family tree and where his kids, grandkids have gone been transferred to? I know Dyer and Adasha are his grandkids, are they also Homey's or Pierre's prior mate. Does Homey have any childred? If so are any of them with Pierre?

My daughter visited your exhibit and was fascinated by how interactive the penguins were when they saw her scarf and moved w/it as she waved it around for them. NOw she wants to know all about the penguins, including their names and it sounds like some history for each of them are w/in blogs. Do you have the names in one place? Thanks, Meg

Hi Frances, There are many areas not seen from the front of the exhibit. These birds have access to nestboxes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have had success in establishing a healthy population, with 107 chicks hatching since 1983. Our oldest penguin is currently 27 years old. We also have a couple that has been together 15 years, they are a highly monogomous species. Their lives are constantly enriched with changing water temperatures, air temperatures and lighting that mimic seasonal fluctuations. We have many age ranges, and many opportunities for these birds to thrive. I suggest reading about these birds on our blogs to learn about them as indivduals and follow their life history as time goes on. The cameras will also be moved around for you to observe their naturalistic environment and to ulimately watch them raise chicks. I have dedicated my life and career to learning, teaching and caring about these birds and providing the highest quality life for this important species. Thanks for asking your question-Pamela Schaller

I love the penguins. Thank you for posting this wonderful story. One question: Why are all the penguin "names" always in "quotes"? Is it just a "penguin" thing?

I think there is a time zone issue with the sound availability during the penguin feeding time. The sound currently does not work for me which I assumed was an issue on my end but I happened to check the website at 10:30ish my time and the sound icon does appear in the corner of the wide view camera video window. Just wanted to let you guys know there seems to be an issue.
