today kerrie said 14 penguins in exhibit i thought there were 17, i know most of their names- am a big fan of the penguins. did some leave? who is gone? thank you for this site. i am recovering from surgery and these guys help(also brooke and erin-and all the staff) candace

Hi Lex, thanks for the thoughtful question. Homey and Pierre’s nest-box has been closed off to prevent other birds from taking it over while they’re off exhibit and not around to defend it. It will be re-opened when the couple is reintroduced to the colony in 1-2 weeks. Hope to see you soon at the Academy!

I just learned from the penguin feeding that Homie had a procedure and Pierre is keeping her company…. So who is guarding there nestbox in the main exhibit? It awesome that I can watch feeding from my iPhone!!! I will be visiting very soon and be able to see them all up close and personal!!!

I continue to appreciate Pam’s enthusiasm to “explain and protect” her little charges. That she works so closely with them on a daily basis and is so forthcoming and knowledgeable about penguin related issues and can explain these things to the general public in an informed but easy to understand manner is really special.She represents all that is good at the Academy of Sciences. I look forward to both her Penguin feedings daily.

I really enjoy watching the penguin cam on line during feeding times.It’s a great diversion during my work day. I have noticed that the audio is not always available. Could you please double check that?

I think Pierre went to Veterinary Vision where I took one of my beagles this year when she had an eye infection that persisted. They were very nice and the treatment had her eye back to normal again. Great to have such a great resource for dogs and penguins here in town.
