African penguin Conservation: SANCCOB

SANCCOB is the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds. They work in South Africa with several species of seabirds, especially the Endangered African penguin. There are many aspects of their organization including: cleaning oiled seabirds, rescue of seabirds, oil spill contingency plans, fencing for Dyer island, toxicology surveys, outreach education, teacher training workshops and a Robben Island Clean-Up project. Yes, in fact Pierre just recently replaced his feathers again. He is often seen swimming in the early mornings.

hi i was wondering if they ever swim it seems like all they do is sit htere when are they most active

Absolutely. The penguins will swim as much as four to six hours depending on the bird. The best times to look for swimming activity is early morning, and around feed times.
