Hi Lauren, Penguins court eachother through head movement and beak/body positioning. Males will typically establish a territory, then move close to a female, lower his head, tuck in his beak towards his chest and walk circles around her. Eventually he will move closer to his burrow. If the female is interested she will mimic his behavior and enter his burrow.-Pamela Schaller
