Live Penguin Cams

December 31, 2008

A Waddling New Year!

We are excited to have the new Academy open.  If you have not yet visited be sure to next year!  I hope the penguins and the blog can be useful to your questions and learning in 2009.  They have many simple lessons to teach us from growth and development to commitment, bonding and retiring.  Please have a Safe, Inquisitive and Happy New Year!-Pamela Schaller

  3. We have not archived the posts, but I will talk with our web manager and ask about the possibilities. The photo is of “Domino”, he has grown now and has an Orange wing band on his right wing and a Green band on his left wing.

  6. The person standing behind the rocks while the penguins are being fed is recording the type and amount of fish each penguin is eating.

  7. Gee Pam, you work quickly. I noticed today that just to the right of the blogs is a new box where you can access old blogs. Do you have a list of penguins and their tags so we can tell who is who?

  8. What is it like to touch a penguin? Are they soft like hamsters and guinea pigs? Can I touch them?

  10. Pam – My 5 year old Kevin and 3 year old Nolan have a book they love about penguins. The book has a map showing where varios penguins are from. The ones on the southern tip of Africa are called Cape penguins in the book. We know that your penguins are from Africa as well, but you call them African penguins. Are African penguins and Cape penguins the same or different? We loved your penguin feeding time when we visited. Thanks.

  11. I just wanted to say that I love the new Penquin tank and the live cams. I wish we had that when I worked there back in 1981 to 1992. I worked with Tad, Karen, John and McCosker as well as the rest of the gang back then. I see Pierre has aged well. He used to love sitting in my lap during feedings. Keep up the great work and dedication to our Marine friends.
    Always an Academy Junky!
Michele. Send big hugs to Pierre from me.
