How Can Teachers Attend the Academy for Free?
© Tim Griffith
Can you name three ways that educators can receive free admission to the California Academy of Sciences?
Option 1: Attend a Quarterly Free Day
Admission is free to the general public four Sundays a year! Of course, far more than just educators will be in attendance, so this is your least attractive option. Expect crowds from near and far.
Early arrival is recommended due to the likelihood of high demand; the line often wraps all the way to the Conservatory of Flowers!
Our next Free Sunday (always listed on our Admission page) will take place on September 25, 2016. Mark your calendars!
Option 2: Book a Field Trip, and Bring Your Confirmation Email
Field trip organizers can bring their order confirmation to the Service Desk outside the entrance, and we'll print one complimentary admission ticket for you.
As long as you have an upcoming field trip, you can get into the building to plan!
Option 3: Buy a Teacher Membership
Did you know that Pre-K through 12th-grade classroom teachers in California are eligible for special educator prices on memberships to the Academy?
Admission is free for you and one guest.
The catch: Teacher memberships are available only by mail or at the Academy Service Desk, using the application below. You'll need to show proof of teaching status in California, but that can come in many forms, such as a pay stub, employee badge, etc.
