Scientist's Scoop: What is the secret life of a museum macaw?

On May 2nd, an Academy biologist gave us the scoop on what it's like to live at the Academy—if you are a Blue and Gold Macaw, that is!
The California Academy of Sciences is home to over 63,000 living animals. Together we discovered the secret lives of one of these animals, Blue and Gold Macaws.
In this 30-minute program, an Academy Biologist gave us an exclusive look into what it takes to care for these animals. As we watched the macaws eat their favorite snack, we observed the different body parts they used. We also heard how loud macaws truly are!
Together, we learned the different behaviors Academy biologists have trained the macaws and why they are important.
This program was interactive in nature! Students had the opportunity to ask an Academy biologist about their curiosities regarding macaws and how she takes care of them.
