How can we engage students in hands-on science learning in any setting—whether at home or at school? How can science exploration be accessible, without requiring special materials or technological tools?

This workshop will explore a variety of strategies for accessible, hands-on inquiry, and will bring you together with peers to share and gather ideas. You will try out a few inquiry investigations as a learner, unpack the pedagogy behind the activities, and reflect on how these approaches support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). You will also have time to collaborate with your peers around how to apply these ideas in your own teaching.

The science activities we model in this workshop were designed for 3rd - 8th grade. However, educators of all grades and contexts are welcome, and we will facilitate discussions to help you apply what you learn to your own setting.

This three-day online learning experience will be highly interactive and will engage you in small-group discussions and individual exploration.  You will participate in synchronous morning sessions over Zoom, then have an independent task to complete at your own pace in the afternoon.
