The Great Outdoors

7:00 pm, Join outdoor rockstars from REI as they present a special talk by Outdoor School Guide Banning Lyon, exploring the ins and outs of backpacking in Yosemite.

8:00 pm, Catch an enlightening talk by author Dan White, whose book “Under the Stars” takes a humorous and heartfelt look at how America fell in love with camping.

Brush up on your navigation skills with a fun topographic map activity presented by REI.

Exploring What's Wild

6:00 - 10:00 pm, Walk through the wild Grand Hall and check out tables from the following park-themed partners:

  • The Flavors of Home - an interactive display of edible plants found throughout National Parks
  • California Academy Researchers and Science Illustrators Sean Edgerton and Rachel Diaz-Bastin - National Park inspired illustrations
  • Point Reyes National Seashore

Plus stop by the National Parks Conservation Association and Creative Action Network table to send a digital birthday card for our National Park Service’s 100th birthday and pick up some cool swag to look stylish on the trail.

The Creative Action network will also be onsite, displaying some of the 1,000+ stunning See America designs that have been produced through a crowd-sourced art campaign, in partnership with National Parks Conservation Association.

Dance Under the Stars

 In the Piazza, dance to a soundscape of dub, roots, and dancehall by DJ Sep (Dub Mission).

MUSEUM EXHIBIT TIMES
6:00-7:45 pm, Osher Rainforest—explore a lush, four-story rainforest that's teeming with life.

6:00-10:00 pm, Color of Life—Discover a world of dazzling live animals and shimmering scientific specimens.

6:00-10:00 pm, Twilight Zone: Deep Reefs Revealed—Marvel at rarely-seen fish and invertebrates from little-known reefs and learn about Academy scientists who travel to mysterious underwater depths.

FOOD & DRINK
A variety of food options are available at NightLife from 6:00-9:30 pm, including The Academy Cafe, The Terrace, and The Academy Cafe Food Cart located in the front lobby.

Enjoy a different fresh seasonal "craft on draft" cocktail at each NightLife bar area designed by our resident mixologist Shane McKnight! All bars accept cash and credit cards.

PLANETARIUM UPDATE
Please note: Planetarium seating is limited . Admission is available to NightLife guests on a first-come, first-served basis. No passes required. We recommend arriving 20 minutes prior to showtime.
