Painting Towards a Better Tomorrow
Science Today
Join illustrator Yuumei to explore the ways that art can complement scientific research and data to inspire and drive change for a greener planet.

  • At 8:00 PM, catch a live talk from Yuumei on her technique of using art to speak to emotions when scientific data and research fail to sink in.
  • At 8:30 PM, stick around to watch her work in real-time on a brand new piece!

6 - 10 PM

  • Gain a new perspective on fashion while creating wearable art in a hands-on workshop with the Museum of Craft and Design. Use a variety of upcycled textiles, embellishments, yarn, patches, and fabric markers to create your own unique headwear.

7 - 10 PM

  • Grab a seat to learn some easy embroidery techniques with Museum of Craft and Design and leave with your very own Academy-themed patch to be applied as you see fit.

Whether you’re ready to get hands-on or simply looking to observe and learn, there’s something for everyone at this artful NightLife.

A few don't-miss event details:

  • To help keep guests safe and ensure everyone has plenty of room to roam, NightLife will be limiting capacity and have timed-entry tickets.
     
  • Last entry into the rainforest exhibit is 7:30 pm—our animals need their sleep.
     
  • Morrison Planetarium will be open during NightLife with 4 showtimes. To maximize staff and guest safety, reservations are required and capacity is limited. Reservations are first-come, first served—simply scan the QR code posted in the front lobby upon arrival to make your reservation.

    Please note: food and drink are not permitted inside the planetarium, and masks must be worn properly at all times.
     

  • Food and beverages are available for purchase in the Academy Café and West Garden Terrace including a variety of grab-and-go options, craft cocktails, and more. All dining and drinking is permitted inside the Academy Cafe and outdoors in the garden.
     
  • Please embrace the Academy’s three favorite Ws: Wear a mask, Wash your hands, and Watch your distance. All guests will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be enforced according to the latest public health and safety guidelines.
