Tyler is pursuing a Masters degree in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology at San Francisco State University and serves as an On-Call Dive Officer at the Steinhart Aquarium. His studies focus on how fish assemblages change across depth gradients, identifying mechanisms that drive the composition of fish communities, and best practices to conserve vulnerable communities. For future studies, Tyler is interested in using molecular techniques to untangle the relationship deep reefs have played in the speciation and colonization of shallow reefs throughout time, such as in periods of lower sea level through glaciation events.
