This week, NightLife celebrates resilient cities and the vibrant role that urban centers play in creativity and culture. 

Around the museum, explore bright ideas for building successful cities and healthy, diverse communities —from sustainability-inspired fashion and wearable technology to discussions on sister cities and inclusive community building all designed by the students and faculty of California College of the Arts.

Social Practice
(Lobby)

peak with the students from Social Practice department about how social practice fuels dynamic communities around the world and check out the Interaction Design Robot, "Rolling Colors."

Urban Engagement
(Project Lab)
6:00 - 10:00 pm,
Learn about Urban Dilemmas while playing 4 different board games designed by Win-Win and explore more projects from the Interaction Design Department titled Wavesong and Music for Making Love. Then stop by to visit with the team from the San Francisco Department of the Environment to learn about CleanPowerSF.

Vibrant Materials
(Swamp)
6:00 - 10:00 pm,
Visit the Illustration Department's table to learn about all the exhibits and scoop a passport to go explore. Then, do some leaf rubbings with Professor Barbara Holmes and furniture design students and check out the City and The City installation.

NIGHTLIFE TIPS

  • Hurry! Last entry for our Rainforest dome is at 7:45 pm. Please note: drinks are not allowed inside the Rainforest exhibit.
     
  • Thirsty? Each bar area features a unique seasonal cocktail—there are multiple bars throughout the museum.
     
  • Special programs and lectures may have limited seating and admission will also be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

PLANETARIUM PASSES

  • Planetarium passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6:30 pm. Early event arrival is strongly recommended due to limited capacity and high demand for passes.

FOOD & DRINK

  • A variety of food options are available at NightLife from 6:00-9:30 pm, including The Academy Cafe, The Terrace, and The Academy Cafe Food Cart located in the front lobby.
     
  • Enjoy a different fresh seasonal "craft on draft" cocktail at each NightLife bar area designed by our resident mixologist Shane McKnight! And if craft cocktails aren't your thing, check out our craft beer offerings from Anchor Brewing Co.
