The Academy is proud to offer special, discounted rates for California-based groups serving youth. Share the news with your local science club, summer camp, youth program, or afterschool-care provider!

Eligibility and Pricing

To be eligible for discounted Youth Group rates, your organization must:

  • Be based in California
  • Serve youth up to age 17 through an organization such as a club, youth group, camp session, or afterschool/weekend program
  • Provide at least 1 adult chaperone for every 8 minors
  • Purchase admission for a group of 10 or more people via one pre-paid reservation

Note: Groups of homeschoolers are also encouraged to apply for a Youth Group visit; the standard Chaperone Policy will apply.

Planetarium Seats: Free


Payment must be received prior to your visit. Additional tickets may be purchased on the date of your visit, but will be available only at general admission rates. Please note that cancelations must be made 30 days in advance of your visit to receive a full refund.

Reserved Planetarium Seats

Planetarium shows are free, but advance reservations are required for youth groups and chaperones must attend.

The following show times are available for pre-booking by groups with children in grades 3-12:

  • School Year, September–May
    Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 11:30 am and 1:30 pm
    Saturdays: 10:30 am and 1:30pm
  • Summer Months, June–August
    Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 10:30 am and 1:30 pm
    Saturdays and Sundays: 1:30 pm

Youth groups will begin entering the Planetarium dome 15 minutes prior to show time. Shows last 30 to 40 minutes, with content subject to change. Please refer to our show schedule to determine what will be playing on the day of your visit.
