Party After Dark spills across the Academy’s multiple indoor and outdoor venues and will feature a live Purity Ring DJ Set, photo booths, complimentary bites and open bars, a silent disco, a special appearance by MythBusters' Adam Savage, food trucks, and much more!

Purity Ring (DJ Set) feat. Corin Roddick b2b Megan James
Purity Ring makes lullabies for the club, drawing equally from airy 90s R&B, lush dream pop, and the powerful, bone-rattling immediacy of modern hip hop. The Edmonton, Canada-based duo, formed by Megan James and Corin Roddick, are part of a genre-defiant category of music – self labeled Future Pop. Purity Ring has performed on Conan O’Brien and Austin City Limits. They will be joining us after playing both weekends at Coachella this year.
Silent Disco in African Hall
Dance to Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown and all of today’s pop & hip hop favorites through wireless headsets alongside zebras, lions, and the Academy’s live penguins in the Silent Disco, powered by Silent Storm. Funk dance party courtesy of DJ Dave Paul of Michael Jackson vs. Prince fame.

Matt Haze
Our opening DJ is a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, and covered in a stylish beard. One of the most current DJs on the West Coast, Matt Haze rubs contemporary and classic jams with a marinade of cutting edge beats and a nod to the old-school. He is difficult to classify but impossible to resist.
Food Trucks
Enjoy local, organic tacos from The Taco Guys. This bright orange truck wheels around the Bay Area doling out what its followers call “the most original tacos around.” Also on the menu are delicious sliders from Slider Shack—where the sliders are topped with delectable island-inspired sauces and served on Hawaiian rolls.
Photo Booths
Head out to the East Garden and get your silly on with The Booth Bus, a 1970 Volkswagen bus converted into a one-of-a-kind photo booth. The bus may be vintage but the photo booth is as high-quality and modern as it gets. Don’t forget the additional photo booths scattered throughout the main floor—who could ever have too many photo booth pictures?
Billion Jelly Bloom
Back by popular demand, Billion Jelly Bloom will transform the night air into an ocean inhabited by a crowd-surfing, dance partner-sized, luminous jellyfish bloom. You won't want to miss these delightfully swarming invertebrates!
