Careers in Science is a multi-year, year-round paid internship and youth development program for San Francisco youth who come from communities typically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

  • Grades: 9-12 (must apply in grade 9 or 10)
  • Commitment: 2-3 years
  • Schedule: Training and work hours vary during school year and summer
  • Cost: CiS interns are paid Academy employees

Teen Science Night (#TSN)

#TeenScienceNight is planned for teens, by teens. Join us for this fun and free night to learn, engage with science, and connect with the Bay Area community.

  • Ages: 13-18
  • Schedule: August 11, 2023, 6:30-9:00 pm
  • Cost: Free

Science Action Club (SAC)

Science Action Club is a global STEM program that provides activity plans, kits of materials, and training for program staff so they can teach with confidence and skill. SAC’s mission is to increase science literacy, foster STEM identity, and expand equity and access to high-quality science and nature education.

  • Grades: 5-8
  • Schedule: Afterschool/Out-of-school time, summer learning
  • Topics: Bug Safari, Cloud Quest, Bird Scouts
  • Cost: Pay-what-you-can

Youth Action for the Planet (YAP)

Youth Action for the Planet (YAP) is growing a global youth movement to regenerate the natural world. Teens in YAP access resources, skills, and networks of support to tackle our planet’s most pressing science and environmental issues.

  • Grades: 9-12 (ages 14-18)
  • Schedule: Virtual meetings every other week and onsite events
  • Cost: Free
