SuperNatural Halloween returns on Saturday, October 28

Family-friendly celebration to include a silent disco, trick-or-treating, spooky specimens, and more.

SAN FRANCISCO (September 28, 2017) – The California Academy of Sciences once again invites families to grab their costumes and have a ghostly good time while trick-or-treating through the world’s only aquarium-planetarium-natural history museum at night. Among spooktacular animals and spine-tingling scientific specimens, the Academy presents SuperNatural Halloween 2017, an annual fundraiser co-chaired by Kate Harbin Clammer, Beth Grossman, Jessica Moment, Libby Ornani, and Summer Tompkins Walker.

This year, SuperNatural will feature an all-new, family-friendly silent disco in the aquarium, where guests can grab a pair of headphones and get down to the sounds of the night. Around the museum, guests can catch special live animal demonstrations, marvel at roaming magicians, and transform into their favorite Academy animals with the help of festive face painters. Plus, they will get the chance to experience the Academy after dark with a giant pumpkin carving demonstration, magic shows, and touchable specimens—all under one living roof.

Costumes are encouraged and children will receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag to haul their candy loot as they explore hands-on Halloween arts and crafts around the museum. Guests are invited to step into a photobooth to capture all of the fun and enjoy a special live presentation of “A Haunted Tour of the Night Sky” in the planetarium, led by an Academy presenter.

General admission tickets are $50 for adults, $35 for children; children age 1 and younger are free. Family VIP benefactor tickets are also available (from $100-$2,500) and include special VIP lounge, early event entry at 5:00 pm, exclusive catered dinner, a future behind-the-scenes tour of the museum, and more. Marvel at 38,000 live animals, chat with scientists, and get festive with fanciful face painting. Experience the Academy at night with a giant pumpkin carving demonstration, “A Haunted Tour of the Night Sky” in the planetarium, and family-friendly activities for all ages brought together under one living roof. Children in costume will receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag to haul their candy loot while exploring hands-on Halloween crafts and Academy exhibits.
