Join us for a fright at the museum! Embrace your eerie side and and haunt our halls in costume for our annual family-friendly, scientifically spine-tingling Halloween event.
Eek-vents and activities

Shake your bones at a silent disco in Steinhart Aquarium. Satisfy your sweet tooth at trick-or-treat stations. Marvel at mystical magic shows. See what slithers and scuttles at live animal demonstrations. Meet mad scientists and ogle at unusual specimens. Create crafts to "DIY" for. Transform into living (or undead) art with face painting. Immortalize your spirit at a photo booth. And last but not least: Teens can rest in peace at an exclusive teen lounge with arcade games, snacks, and more.

Event attendees are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes. For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please keep these guidelines in mind:
- Costumes should be child-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, or violent in nature.
- Costumes should not contain sharp or pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike guests or exhibits.

- The California Academy of Sciences reserves the right to turn away any guest with a costume that we deem offensive or unsafe.
The health and safety of our staff and guests is always our top priority.
Effective September 16, guests will no longer be required to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative test. We still strongly encourage all guests to stay up-to-date with their vaccinations.
Please note that our health and safety policies are subject to change. For the latest information and for vaccination and testing resources, please visit our Health & Safety page.
