Tips for Planning a Visit Date

Life-size dinosaur model of a Tyrannosaurus rex.

From March 22-May 5, 2019, Dino Days comes to the Academy, with life-size dinosaur models taking over the East Garden!

Our new summer exhibit, Skin: Living Armor, Evolving Identity, opens June 14, 2019.

Reserved Planetarium Seats

Planetarium shows are free, but advance reservations are required for youth groups and chaperones must attend.

Because most shows are designed for guests ages 7 and up, your group will not be placed in a show if you are bringing younger children. Rest assured that there is plenty to do at the Academy for early learners!

Youth groups will begin entering the Planetarium dome 30 minutes prior to show time. Shows last 30 to 40 minutes, with content subject to change. Please refer to our show schedule to determine what will be playing on the day of your visit.

For summer 2019 visits: since the show schedule has not been confirmed, we won't be able to add a show to your order right now. However, we'll remind you to call up starting June 1, 2019, to request seats!

Sleepover at the Academy!

family at a sleepover

Experience your own night at the museum! Explore the exhibits after-hours and discover the deepest depths of the oceans, travel to the tops of rainforests, blast off into outer space at your own private planetarium show, and then settle in for story time after snacking on milk and cookies.

Groups of 10 or more are eligible for significant discounts!

Pre-Paid Dining Options

Step out of the box and taste the difference. Handcrafted at the Academy Café with locally sourced ingredients, boxed lunches or dining gift cards are great for groups on tight schedules and for trip planners who want to pay for everyone's meals with one form of payment.
