Present a valid military ID or proof of service (i.e., VA card or DD-214) at the ticket window when you arrive to receive $3 off daytime general admission. Please note: This offer is for active-duty military personnel only and does not apply to family, friends, or dependents.
Discover & Go Library Program
The Academy provides passes to moderate- to low-income neighborhood libraries, in San Francisco, Richmond, Alameda, Contra Costa, Berkeley, Oakland, as well as over 40 other local library systems. Families with children can check out passes for participating cultural institutions, including the Academy, from their local public library branch. Museums for All
The Academy is a proud partner in Museums for All, a collaborative initiative that ensures every child and family has access to a world-class museum experience by offering reduced admission.
If you have an EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) or WIC card, simply present it at the ticket window when you arrive to receive $3 general admission. Limit 4 per group per visit.
Community Access Ticket Service (CATS)
CATS provides experiences to tens of thousands of people who otherwise could not afford to visit through partnerships with hundreds of social-service organizations, including Boys and Girls Clubs, Salvation Army, YMCA, and others.
School and Youth Field Trips
School field trip reservations are available for formal California school groups of students in grades pre-K through 12, including preschool. Field trips can be scheduled on most dates with the exception of holidays and some school breaks. You can even book a weekend visit! All school groups from the City and County of San Francisco receive free admission to the Academy. All other California school groups receive a discounted group rate.
The Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Enhanced Museum Visits Program supports field trips for 4th- and 5th- grade students in San Francisco. Free transportation, admission, and educational materials are all provided by this program.
Children 3 and under
All children ages 3 and under receive free admission to the Academy everyday.
Every Thursday night, adults 21+ can visit the museum for a significantly reduced price during NightLife from 6-10 pm. In addition to access to all Academy exhibits, including planetarium shows, NightLife attendees enjoy live music and special programming.
Academy memberships are always a great value and can pay for themselves in less than two visits. Membership installment plans provide an accessible payment option that enables members to pay for the cost of a membership with an initial down payment and easy monthly installments starting at less than $6 a month.
Our new Community Value membership offers family access to the Academy 230+ days a year for just $129.
By lowering barriers to entry—whether cost, access, language, or culture—we’re creating an Academy for All.
