Hosted by the California Academy of Sciences, the next meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) will be held in San Francisco, California, US, from May 28 to June 2, 2023.
Though the future seems exceptionally uncertain these days, the conference theme “Taking the Long View” encourages all of us to envision the future for our field, our collections, and ourselves. What lessons can we take from the past to better shape our future? What are our goals as a society and as individual organizations?
We intend to provide a world-class hybrid conference in 2023 by working to maximize in-person safety, developing a comprehensive virtual program for members who cannot attend in-person, promoting the inclusivity of the conference, and expanding sponsorship to reduce cost for members that could be aided with financial support.
